A UNESCO Site & one of Mexico’s treasures. www.rutamonarca.org.
A phenomenanal mystery of multiple generations traveling 3,000 miles of a migratory path from US & Canada to winter in the protected mountain forest sanctuaries of central Mexico in Michoacan. 150 million before your eyes.
Enormous swarms of them on the tree branches weighted down with clumps of them hanging in the shady area of the forest. In the instant the sun shines on them, unexpectedly the sky is suddenly filled with bright orange-and-black wings & it is utterly breathtaking as they cover everywhere, the trees, the flowering bushes, the forest floor. My third trip and looking forward to the Magic!
